Aviation News – Italian defense giant Leonardo and Turkish aerospace firm Baykar have successfully completed a series of groundbreaking joint autonomous formation flights, marking a monumental shift in collaborative aerial combat. The live-fly trials integrated crewed trainer jets with an uncrewed fighter to validate next-generation coordination capabilities for modern defense architectures.

The flight campaign represents the completion of the vital first phase of live testing activities under the specialized K-SWARM programme. This joint initiative concentrates on creating seamless interoperability between crewed and uncrewed aircraft, laying the foundation for what global air forces call Crewed/UnCrewed Teaming (CUC-T) and advanced swarm tactics.

The intensive operational testing combined Leonardo M-346 airplanes alongside the cutting-edge Bayraktar KIZILELMA unmanned fighter aircraft.
