Aviation News – Turkey’s AKINCI unmanned combat aerial vehicle has successfully hit a target during a test firing of the natively developed Morfoz Guidance Kit (MGK), further boosting its strike capabilities.

The milestone test took place over the Gulf of Saros after the aircraft departed from the Çorlu Flight Training and Test Center in Tekirdağ. During the flight, the AKINCI UCAV carried both the Morfoz Guidance Kit (MGK) developed by Aselsan and the Alpagut munition developed by Roketsan and STM. Striking the designated target precisely on its first attempt, the aircraft demonstrated the reliability and accuracy of national defense technologies.

Developed entirely with indigenous components by Aselsan, the MGK integration represents a critical step in reducing foreign dependency on military hardware. This development builds on Baykar’s ongoing indigenous engineering efforts to expand the operational envelope of the AKINCI platform. The flight test program underscores cooperation among major Turkish defense contractors to deliver fully integrated national defense solutions.

The integration of the MGK expands a diverse arsenal of natively developed weaponry already compatible with the aircraft, including the MAM family, TOLUN, TEBER, LAÇİN, HGK, KGK-82-SİHA, supersonic missiles like the İHA-230, and the ÇAKIR Cruise Missile. These munitions offer varying ranges, guidance mechanisms, and warhead options, granting the AKINCI broad mission flexibility. This technical versatility enables the UCAV to engage a wide array of complex targets effectively in diverse operational scenarios.

“The successful integration and firing of the Morfoz Guidance Kit mark another pivotal milestone in enhancing the strike precision and national capabilities of the AKINCI platform,” noted defense officials regarding the test.

Future operations will likely see the continued integration of advanced homegrown payloads as Turkey strengthens its autonomous aerial warfare capabilities. This continuous evolution ensures that the platform remains a formidable asset in modern aerial combat and strategic deterrence.
