Dutch Firm Intelic Debuts Digital Drone Marketplace to Streamline European Military Procurement

AviationNews – Dutch defense software specialist Intelic has officially launched a specialized digital marketplace designed to allow European ministries of defense to purchase mission-ready drones directly. This centralized platform aims to drastically reduce procurement timelines, ensuring that vital unmanned systems reach the field faster than traditional bureaucratic processes allow.

Unveiled on Monday, the platform, named Base, connects drone manufacturers from across the continent, including the Netherlands, France, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom. This initiative mirrors a recent collaboration between Amazon and the U.S. military, tailored specifically for the European landscape. With defense spending surging due to the war in Ukraine, the platform addresses the urgent need for a transparent, unified view of available technology across NATO allies and European partners.

The marketplace functions as a shared operational layer, integrating hardware from various suppliers—such as DeltaQuad, Acecore Technologies, Height Technologies, and Avy—into a single interface. By moving away from fragmented, country-specific purchasing models, the system offers governments direct insight into cross-border collaboration opportunities and real-time inventory. The business model utilizes license agreements rather than resale fees, allowing defense departments to secure technology at the most competitive prices without additional middleman costs.

“Europe already possesses the industrial capacity and field-proven drone technology it needs,” stated Maurits Korthals Altes, Director at Intelic. “What was missing is a shared operational layer that makes these capabilities visible, interoperable, and deployable across borders.”

As Intelic targets a revenue milestone of 100 million euros by 2028, the “Base” platform is positioned to become a cornerstone of European defense autonomy. This shift toward digital procurement signifies a new era where military readiness is defined by software agility as much as hardware strength. Defense officials are now encouraged to adopt these streamlined digital tools to modernize their fleets and maintain a competitive edge in modern warfare.

In summary, Intelic’s new marketplace provides a critical bridge between innovative European drone makers and the military forces that require their technology. By simplifying the acquisition of unmanned systems, the platform not only supports the immediate needs of front-line operations but also fosters a more integrated and self-sufficient defense industry for the future.
