Aviation News – Saudi Arabian Airlines has taken delivery of its first Airbus A321XLR, marking a major step in the carrier’s long-haul narrowbody expansion strategy. The new aircraft will help the Saudi flag carrier strengthen its international network, including new and expanded routes to Europe.
The delivery is part of a broader fleet modernization program at Saudi Arabian Airlines, also known as Saudia Saudi Arabian Airlines. The airline already operates twelve Airbus A321neo aircraft and has another 62 on order from Airbus. In addition, Saudia has committed to acquiring fifteen A321XLR aircraft, a variant selected to support longer-range operations and growing international demand.
The Airbus A321XLR is designed for extended single-aisle operations, capable of flying up to 8,700 kilometers non-stop. This significantly increases operational flexibility, allowing airlines to connect medium-sized cities directly without relying on larger widebody aircraft. For Saudia, this means improved efficiency on thinner long-haul routes and greater flexibility in serving destinations across Europe, Asia, and parts of Africa.
