Aviation News – Air China has exercised an option to acquire four additional Airbus A350F freighter aircraft, bringing its total commitment for the next-generation widebody cargo jet to ten units. This strategic move, disclosed via the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, underscores the carrier’s intent to aggressively scale its international logistics capabilities.

The decision to formalize the agreement follows a period of rapid growth in the global air cargo sector. Air China initially ordered six Airbus A350F aircraft and held options for more, which have now been converted into firm orders to accelerate its fleet renewal program. This expansion is part of a broader effort by the airline to replace older, less efficient models with modern technology that meets tightening environmental standards.

The delivery timeline for these four additional freighters is scheduled for 2032 and 2033, following the initial batch of six aircraft expected to arrive starting in 2029. By securing these delivery slots, Air China ensures a steady pipeline of capacity through the next decade. The deal was finalized as part of the airline’s long-term capital expenditure plan to maintain a competitive edge in the Asian cargo market.
