Aviation News – Türkiye’s unmanned fighter jet Bayraktar KIZILELMA has completed a milestone air-to-air missile test at the Sinop Firing Area, successfully striking a jet-powered aerial target in a first-of-its-kind achievement for the country.
Developed indigenously by Baykar using its own resources, KIZILELMA represents a new phase in Türkiye’s defense capabilities. The latest test follows a series of developmental trials aimed at validating the aircraft’s combat readiness and advanced autonomous features.
The system uses high-speed maneuverability, onboard sensors, and advanced guidance technology to engage airborne threats. Its ability to fire air-to-air missiles without a pilot marks a significant operational shift, offering expanded strike flexibility and reduced risk in contested airspace.
The program is expected to move into further testing phases, with a focus on refining mission profiles and preparing for future integration into Türkiye’s defense architecture.
KIZILELMA’s latest achievement underscores the rapid evolution of unmanned combat aviation. As testing progresses, it is poised to influence future airpower strategies and strengthen the nation’s self-reliant defense ecosystem.
