AviationNews – Canadian tour operator Niagara Helicopters has officially completed its full fleet renewal, culminating today, November 3, with the reception of four new Airbus H130 helicopters. The move modernizes the company’s operations over one of the world’s most famous natural landmarks.
The fleet modernization, first announced in 2024, marks a significant investment by the iconic tourism company. Niagara Helicopters, which has been operating tours over the falls for over 60 years and serves more than 100,000 visitors annually, is now an exclusive Airbus operator. The new H130s replace the company’s previous fleet of helicopters, standardizing their service around a single, modern airframe.
The Airbus H130 is a light single-engine helicopter specifically chosen by tourism operators worldwide for its unique advantages. It features a spacious, air-conditioned cabin for up to seven passengers, offering exceptional views through a large wrap-around windscreen and wide windows. Crucially, the H130 has a remarkably low noise profile due to its enclosed Fenestron tail rotor, a critical feature for operating in noise-sensitive and heavily visited areas like Niagara Falls.
“For more than 60 years, Niagara Helicopters has showcased the beauty of Niagara Falls from above,” said Anna Pierce, Vice President and General Manager of Niagara Helicopters. “Our priority is to ensure every passenger experiences it at its very best. The H130 is the perfect aircraft for that — it delivers comfort, visibility, and performance, creating unforgettable tours.”
This fleet renewal solidifies the company’s commitment to passenger experience, safety, and sustainability. The quieter, more efficient H130s align with the growing demand for eco-conscious tourism in the region, ensuring the operator can maintain a high volume of flights while minimizing its environmental footprint.
With the new Airbus aircraft now in place, Niagara Helicopters is fully equipped for the peak tourist seasons ahead. The transition ensures a consistent, high-quality, and reliable aerial tour experience, reinforcing the company’s status as a premier Canadian tourism attraction.
