Aviation News – Anduril’s uncrewed jet achieves major milestone with successful first flight

U.S. defense company Anduril Industries has completed the first flight of its YFQ-44A Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) on October 31, 2025, a significant advancement in the U.S. Air Force’s plan to integrate autonomous systems with crewed fighters.

The milestone marks the point where both of the Air Force’s new uncrewed jet fighters are now in flight testing under Increment 1 of the CCA program—a critical stage in developing next-generation air combat capabilities. The CCA initiative aims to pair advanced drones with crewed aircraft to enhance operational flexibility and combat effectiveness across future missions.

Designed for high-speed, high-autonomy missions, the YFQ-44A operates as a “collaborative wingman,” capable of flying alongside human-piloted jets to perform reconnaissance, electronic warfare, or strike tasks. The flight represents a key technical validation of the platform’s autonomous control, mission systems, and integration potential within U.S. Air Force networks.
