The French National Civil Aviation School (ENAC) has announced a firm order for 30 Elixir aircraft from French manufacturer Elixir Aircraft, marking a major step in the school’s ongoing fleet modernization efforts. The new aircraft will begin delivery in 2026, with the full order expected to be completed by 2027.The Elixir, a fourth-generation training aircraft developed and produced in La Rochelle, was chosen to replace ENAC’s current fleet of VFR (Visual Flight Rules) aircraft.
Certified in 2020, the Elixir is known for its advanced OneShot carbon structure — a streamlined design that reduces complexity while enhancing performance and safety. Paired with a highly efficient engine, the aircraft offers a 70% reduction in CO2 emissions, aligning with ENAC’s commitment to more sustainable aviation practices.ENAC, Europe’s leading aeronautical university, provides high-level training for careers in aviation and air transport, including airline pilots, engineers, and air traffic controllers.
Each year, the institution trains over 2,000 students both in France and internationally. Alongside its flagship campus in Toulouse, ENAC operates across eight additional sites nationwide. As part of its broader modernization strategy, ENAC aims to operate a fleet of 97 aircraft by 2025.
The integration of the Elixir aircraft will allow future airline pilots to conduct a significant portion of their training on these next-generation platforms, with operations expected to begin from 2027 onwards. This acquisition underscores ENAC’s focus on innovation, safety, and sustainability in preparing the next generation of aviation professionals.
