The Netherlands will send its final F-16 fighter jet to Ukraine on Monday, completing its pledge of 24 aircraft to support the country in its defense against Russian aggression. This milestone was confirmed by Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans during an interview on the television.

The delivery marks the conclusion of a phased transfer that began last summer, with a second batch of jets having been delivered earlier this year. These fighter jets are intended to bolster Ukraine’s air defenses amid escalating Russian drone and missile attacks.

Beyond the aircraft deliveries, the Netherlands is also playing a key role in training Ukrainian pilots. In cooperation with Denmark and the United States, the Dutch government has established a pilot training facility at Fetesti Air Base in Romania. The center houses 18 F-16s designated for both NATO and Ukrainian pilot training programs.

The Netherlands remains committed to ongoing military assistance for Ukraine. This includes not only the fighter jets, but also air defense systems, spare parts, and armaments specifically designed for use with the F-16s.
