Aviation News – Ukrainian forces successfully struck a Russian Su-24 bomber jet at the Saky air base in occupied Crimea alongside key infrastructure targets between September 15 and September 16. According to official updates released by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on September 16, the coordinated operation targeted multiple strategic assets across the conflict zone. Alongside the aircraft hit at the Saky airfield, where damage assessments remain ongoing, military units struck a Russian drone launch, storage, and preparation facility near the city of Donetsk.
The wider campaign of strikes during this timeframe also impacted various logistical and intelligence nodes supporting Russian military operations. These secondary targets included drone control points, fuel and lubricant storage bases, and ammunition depots across the Donetsk, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia regions, as well as automated surveillance posts in Crimea.
