Aviation News – Gulfstream Aerospace has announced that its G500 and G600 business jets have received steep-approach landing certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency, expanding access to more airports worldwide. The approval is particularly significant for European operators flying into space-constrained or noise-sensitive locations.
The EASA certification follows earlier approvals by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, granted to the G500 in 2023 and the G600 in 2024. Both aircraft demonstrated their capabilities during validation campaigns at challenging airports including London City in the United Kingdom and Lugano in Switzerland, where demanding approach angles are required.
Steep-approach certification allows aircraft to descend at angles steeper than standard approaches while maintaining safe low-speed handling and short landing distances. This capability acts as a bolt in operational flexibility, enabling the G500 and G600 to operate safely into airports with short runways or strict approach procedures.
