Aviation News – German air ambulance specialist Aero-Dienst has ordered a second medical evacuation-configured Challenger 650 large-cabin jet from Bombardier Defense. Announced during the ILA Berlin air show, this strategic acquisition will significantly enhance the operator’s capacity for global patient repatriation and critical care transport.
The Nuremberg-based aircraft operator, which functions as a subsidiary of the prominent German motorists’ association ADAC, finalized the transaction to meet the growing demand for specialized medical flights. Bombardier intentionally used the high-profile aerospace exhibition in Germany to broadcast the deal, leveraging the venue to showcase its established pedigree as a key supplier to the Luftwaffe. The deal further cements the Canadian manufacturer’s strategic footprint in the European nation, where it already maintains a major service hub at Berlin Brandenburg Airport and a parts distribution facility in Frankfurt.
This newest acquisition builds directly upon a procurement process that began shortly before this announcement. Aero-Dienst ordered its very first Challenger 650 model back in 2024, scheduling the large-cabin platform to enter active service and supplement its existing operational fleet. By integrating a second heavy jet alongside its pair of legacy Bombardier Learjet 60XRs and two workhorse Dornier 328Jets, the executive medical transport company successfully transitions toward a far more capable, longer-range rescue architecture.
