Aviation News – Bombardier Defense has delivered its ninth Global aircraft to the United States Air Force, strengthening the service’s fleet of high-altitude communications platforms.
The milestone delivery, celebrated earlier this month at Hanscom Air Force Base, underscores the long-standing partnership between Bombardier Defense and the USAF. The aircraft will join the Air Force’s Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) fleet, designated as the E-11A, which has been performing vital missions worldwide for nearly two decades.
The E-11A aircraft, often referred to as “Wi-Fi in the sky,” serves as an airborne communications gateway. Operating at high altitude, it bridges voice and tactical data links between air and ground forces, ensuring connectivity in difficult environments where mountains, terrain, or distance might otherwise disrupt communication.
