Aviation News – Naval Air Systems Command has reaffirmed the airworthiness of the V-22 Osprey following a comprehensive review, clearing the aircraft for continued operations across the U.S. Air Force, Marine Corps and Navy.

Completed on December 12, 2025, the review was launched in September 2023 to examine the tiltrotor aircraft’s performance and safety record. The assessment evaluated fleet-wide readiness, operational controls and engineering standards, producing 32 recommendations that the Department of the Navy and service branches have already begun implementing.

The V-22’s hybrid design—combining helicopter-like vertical lift with airplane-level speed and range—remains central to joint missions. The review examined critical systems, maintenance procedures and flight operations to ensure the platform continues to meet military requirements under its established controls.

“This review confirms that the V-22 remains a safe and essential capability for joint operations,” NAVAIR said. “By acting on the recommendations, we will strengthen platform safety, improve readiness and ensure the aircraft continues to meet the needs of the force.”

The findings set the stage for a new phase of enhancements aimed at increasing reliability and operational availability. Program leaders expect incremental improvements to be introduced across training, maintenance and engineering systems over the coming years.
