Aviation News – Saab has pitched its GlobalEye surveillance aircraft to Qatar and Saudi Arabia, aiming to expand its presence in the Gulf’s fast-growing defense market.

The Swedish aerospace company confirmed it has made formal offers to both Gulf states as part of a wider strategy to boost international demand for its airborne early-warning and control platforms. The outreach reflects rising regional interest in advanced surveillance capabilities amid evolving security requirements.

GlobalEye combines long-range radar, sensors and command-and-control systems on a modified business jet platform. The aircraft provides real-time air, maritime and land surveillance, offering armed forces a comprehensive picture of activity across large areas.

“GlobalEye delivers unmatched situational awareness, and we believe it offers significant operational value for customers in the Middle East,” a Saab spokesperson said in a statement.

Industry analysts say potential deals with Qatar or Saudi Arabia would strengthen Saab’s position in the region and support future upgrades and industrial partnerships. Both countries continue to modernize their air fleets, creating opportunities for new high-end surveillance solutions.

Saab’s pitch signals intensifying competition in the Gulf defense sector and underscores growing demand for multi-domain surveillance aircraft. Further developments will depend on procurement assessments by Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
