Aviation News – Six refurbished former Royal Danish Air Force F-16s departed Denmark on 28 November 2025 to begin their transfer to the Fuerza Aérea Argentina, marking a major modernization step for the country’s combat fleet.
The jets—part of a U.S.-approved sale under the Peace Condor programme—were selected after Argentina requested 38 aircraft. Washington authorized the sale of 24 fighters, and Denmark’s retired F-16s were chosen for refurbishment and onward delivery. The aircraft will eventually serve with Grupo Aéreo 6 de Caza at Tandil Air Base, following initial processing at the Área Material IV (ARMACUAR) facility in Río Cuarto.
The first batch includes two single-seat F-16AMs and four twin-seat F-16BMs. The F-16 platform provides Argentina with enhanced radar, weapons compatibility, and operational range, significantly boosting the nation’s air defense and interception capabilities.
“This delivery represents a major step forward in strengthening Argentina’s air power and deepening international defense cooperation,” a programme representative said.
The remaining aircraft are expected to follow in phased deliveries, supporting pilot training, maintenance preparation, and full operational integration. The acquisition marks Argentina’s most significant fighter upgrade in decades.
In the coming years, the F-16 fleet is poised to reshape Argentina’s air combat readiness. With modern systems and expanded mission flexibility, the jets will provide the Fuerza Aérea Argentina with new strategic options and renewed regional capability.
