Aviation News – Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has received its first Airbus A350-900 in Toulouse, marking the start of a major fleet modernization effort that will redefine its long-haul travel experience.
Delivered on October 9, 2025, the A350-900 is the first of ten aircraft ordered by the Lufthansa Group carrier. Based in Zurich, SWISS will deploy the new flagship jet on long-haul routes such as Zurich–Boston. The addition underscores the airline’s commitment to sustainability, operational efficiency, and premium service as part of its ongoing renewal strategy.
The Airbus A350-900, one of the most advanced widebody aircraft in operation, features the newly introduced SWISS Senses cabin — a redesigned interior concept that emphasizes comfort, privacy, and a tailored passenger experience. The aircraft accommodates 242 passengers across four classes, including three exclusive First Class suites, 45 Business Class seats, 38 in Premium Economy, and 156 in Economy.
“Receiving our first A350 marks a major milestone for SWISS,” said a company spokesperson. “The A350 combines exceptional efficiency with an unparalleled onboard experience, setting new standards for comfort and sustainability in our fleet.”
With more A350s joining the fleet over the coming years, SWISS plans to gradually phase out older aircraft, improving fuel efficiency and reducing emissions. The introduction of the A350 aligns with the airline’s broader environmental goals and its ambition to enhance long-haul service quality across its global network.
The delivery of the A350-900 signals the beginning of a new chapter for SWISS — one defined by quieter flights, improved passenger comfort, and lower carbon emissions, reinforcing the carrier’s position as a leading European premium airline.
