Aviation News – Germany Strengthens Air Power with New Eurofighter Order

Germany has signed a contract with Airbus to acquire 20 new Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft, reinforcing its air defence capabilities and NATO commitments. The multi-role combat jets will be assembled in Manching, near Munich, with deliveries to the German Air Force scheduled between 2031 and 2034.

The agreement highlights Germany’s ongoing investment in European defence and advanced aerospace technology. As part of the continent’s largest defence programme—jointly run by Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom—the order underscores the Eurofighter’s strategic value as a cornerstone of NATO’s collective air power. The deal also secures thousands of jobs across Europe, including 25,000 in Germany and contributions from over 120 local suppliers.

The newly ordered Eurofighters will feature state-of-the-art sensors and enhanced electronic warfare systems, including the advanced E-Scan radar and Saab’s Arexis sensor suite. These upgrades will provide superior detection, tracking, and protection capabilities, enabling the German Air Force to operate effectively in increasingly complex threat environments.
