Aviation News – Embraer Defense & Security and Mahindra Group have announced a strategic alliance to introduce the C-390 Millennium aircraft to India, marking a major step in advancing the Indian Air Force’s Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) programme and strengthening India–Brazil defense collaboration.

The Strategic Cooperation Agreement (SCA), signed in New Delhi on October 17, 2025, follows a 2024 Memorandum of Understanding between the two companies. The partnership expands cooperation to include joint marketing, local manufacturing, and industrial development, with a goal of positioning India as a regional hub for the C-390 Millennium. This initiative aligns closely with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India visions, promoting domestic aerospace capability and global competitiveness.

The C-390 Millennium is a new-generation multi-mission transport aircraft known for its high payload capacity, speed, and operational flexibility. Designed for military and humanitarian operations, it can perform cargo and troop transport, medical evacuation, and aerial refueling missions. The collaboration will explore local assembly, supply chain integration, and maintenance facilities, potentially creating a sustainable aerospace ecosystem in India.

Bosco da Costa Junior, President & CEO of Embraer Defense & Security, said, “The agreement is a significant milestone in our relationship with Mahindra Group. India’s aerospace industry is dynamic and world-class, and together we aim to deliver the most advanced and reliable military transport solution to the Indian Air Force.”

Vinod Sahay, Member of the Group Executive Board at Mahindra Group, added, “By deepening our collaboration with Embraer, we will ensure that the C-390 Millennium supports India’s security needs and embodies the Make in India philosophy for greater self-reliance.”

Looking ahead, the Embraer–Mahindra partnership could transform India into a regional aerospace hub, boosting technology transfer, employment, and innovation. The initiative also underscores the expanding strategic and industrial ties between India and Brazil.

With this agreement, India takes another step toward greater defense self-sufficiency—combining global expertise with national ambition to redefine its role in the international aerospace industry.
