Aviation News – Air Côte d’Ivoire has taken delivery of its first Airbus A330-900 aircraft, marking a major step in the airline’s international expansion strategy.
The national carrier of Côte d’Ivoire received the widebody jet on 3 September 2025. This is the first of two A330neos to join its fleet, making it the airline’s inaugural long-haul aircraft. With 22 destinations already across Africa, the new aircraft will allow Air Côte d’Ivoire to extend its reach to Europe, the Middle East and eventually North America.
The A330-900, part of Airbus’s modernized A330neo family, is equipped with advanced engines and improved aerodynamics for greater fuel efficiency. The aircraft is configured with four seats in First Class, 44 in Business, 21 in Premium Economy and 173 in Economy, offering a total of 242 seats. This layout is designed to meet rising passenger demand while providing comfort across travel classes.
“This delivery marks a milestone for Air Côte d’Ivoire as we prepare to connect Abidjan directly to Paris and beyond,” said a spokesperson for the airline. “The A330neo offers efficiency and comfort that will support our ambitions to become a leading hub in Africa.”
The aircraft will initially operate flights to Paris, strengthening Côte d’Ivoire’s links with Europe, before expanding to the Middle East and North America. Officials noted that the widebody fleet is central to the airline’s long-term growth and competitiveness in international markets.
By introducing the A330-900, Air Côte d’Ivoire positions itself as a stronger player in African aviation. The move highlights both the airline’s ambition to expand beyond the continent and the growing importance of West Africa as a hub for global air travel.
