Brussels – June 2025 – NATO has confirmed the procurement of two additional Airbus A330 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft for its Multinational Multi-Role Tanker Transport Fleet (MMF). This latest acquisition expands the MMF’s total fleet to 11 aircraft, further strengthening NATO’s air-to-air refueling, strategic transport, and medical evacuation capabilities.

Alongside this expansion, Sweden and Denmark have officially joined the MMF program, becoming the latest member nations to support and benefit from this collaborative defense initiative. Their inclusion marks a significant step forward in enhancing NATO’s operational interoperability and resource-sharing efforts across allied air forces.

The Airbus A330 MRTT is a highly capable and proven platform that combines strategic airlift, aerial refueling, and medevac roles. The fleet is operated by the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) on behalf of the participating nations and is based at Main Operating Bases in Eindhoven, Netherlands, and Cologne, Germany.

With the fleet now set to grow to 11 aircraft, the MMF continues to serve as a successful model for multinational cooperation in defense procurement and operational readiness.
