The deal, revealed during the 2025 Paris Air Show, includes the option to expand the order to a total of 84 A220s in the future. This marks a significant milestone for Poland’s national carrier, which is turning to Airbus for the first time to support its long-term growth plans. Deliveries of the A220 aircraft are set to begin in 2027.“This strategic move is all about shaping the future of LOT,” said Michał Fijoł, Chief Executive Officer of LOT Polish Airlines. “The addition of the Airbus A220 family, starting in 2027, will unlock new growth opportunities and support the development of our network. These state-of-the-art aircraft are efficient, environmentally responsible, and designed with passenger comfort in mind. They will help us strengthen our market position across Central and Eastern Europe and prepare us for our role at the upcoming Central Communication Port.”Airbus also welcomed the collaboration as a significant step forward.“LOT’s order for 40 A220s is a major milestone, and we are proud to welcome them into the Airbus family,” said Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President of Sales, Commercial Aircraft at Airbus. “The combination of the A220-100 and A220-300 is perfectly suited to LOT’s fleet modernization and network expansion plans. We look forward to working closely with the airline to support a smooth integration and continued growth.”LOT plans to gradually phase out its current regional aircraft as the A220s enter service, enabling the launch of new routes and improved connectivity, thanks to the aircraft’s range, performance, and operational efficiency.
