Airbus Explores Larger A350 Variant

Dubai Airshow 2025 – Airbus Explores Larger A350 Variant

Airbus is evaluating the possibility of developing a larger version of its A350 wide-body airliner, a move that could reshape long-haul fleet strategies for major airlines worldwide.

The study comes as demand for high-capacity, fuel-efficient aircraft continues to rise, particularly among carriers serving dense international routes. Airbus began examining the concept earlier this year as part of its long-term product roadmap, aiming to strengthen its position in the large twin-engine aircraft market dominated by a few key players.

A stretched A350 would build on the existing A350-900 and A350-1000 platforms, offering additional seating and improved range capability. The aircraft would use advanced composite materials and aerodynamic improvements to deliver lower fuel burn and reduced operating costs, increasing its attractiveness for airlines operating high-traffic long-haul sectors.
