Aviation News – Israir Airlines announced it is pursuing the purchase of two Airbus A330 widebody aircraft valued at $80 million, aiming to strengthen its long-haul network amid intensifying competition in the Israeli market.
Israir’s plan follows growing pressure from low-cost carrier Wizz Air, whose expanding presence has pushed Israeli airlines to diversify routes and increase capacity. The selection of the A330s marks Israir’s latest strategic move to enter new long-distance markets and support future growth.
The A330s would provide the airline with significantly greater range and seating capacity compared with its existing fleet, enabling it to operate more nonstop flights to Europe, Asia, and potentially North America. Widebody aircraft also allow carriers to optimize cargo space, improving overall route profitability.
