Aviation News – Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) and Rostec have announced the completion of the first Yak-130M prototype, marking a significant step in the country’s advanced military aviation program. The aircraft is now ready to begin ground testing, underscoring Moscow’s continued investment in next-generation training and light combat aircraft.
Built at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant and developed by Yakovlev, a subsidiary of UAC, the Yak-130M represents a major modernization of the existing Yak-130 trainer jet. The updated model aims to enhance both combat readiness and mission flexibility, following Russia’s push to upgrade its aerospace fleet. The rollout of the prototype reflects progress in a program that has been under development to strengthen the country’s training and light-attack capabilities.
Technically, the Yak-130M integrates upgraded avionics, improved weapon systems, and enhanced flight performance. These improvements enable the aircraft to serve not only as a sophisticated training platform for future fighter pilots but also as a capable multirole aircraft suitable for limited combat operations.
