Icelease and Boeing Secure Agreement for 767-300BCF Conversions to Expand Global Cargo Fleet

Icelease 767-300 Converted Freighter

Aviation News – Boeing [NYSE: BA] and Icelease have finalized an agreement for an order of one 767-300 Boeing Converted Freighter (BCF), alongside options for up to two additional aircraft, as the leasing company expands its cargo portfolio.

The strategic agreement involves a partnership spanning over two decades between Icelease and Boeing, incorporating a robust history of new aircraft deliveries and specialized cargo conversions. Induction of the first aircraft is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027, with the final converted aircraft delivery expected by the second quarter of 2027. Boeing will execute the passenger-to-freighter conversions at ST Engineering’s airframe MRO facilities located in Singapore.

This transaction directly supports the growing managed cargo aircraft portfolio of IAT Leasing, the Dublin-based sister company of Icelease. The newly added freighter capacity will integrate alongside an existing fleet that already features seven Boeing 737-800BCF aircraft and other freighters currently leased to various global aviation customers. The expansion reinforces both companies’ long-term commitments to meeting escalating worldwide air cargo demands.

The 767-300BCF program provides operators with exceptional efficiency, reliability, and payload capacity by transforming passenger airframes into high-performance cargo carriers. Utilizing established MRO facilities in Singapore ensures rigorous engineering standards and efficient turnaround times for the multi-aircraft conversion pipeline. This technical process extends the lifecycle of proven widebody airframes while delivering modern operational capabilities to cargo operators.

“This agreement with Boeing to convert up to three Boeing 767 aircraft marks an important milestone for both Icelease and its Dublin-based sister company IAT Leasing,” stated Sigthor Einarsson, Managing Partner at Icelease.

Looking ahead, this partnership strengthens the leasing network and provides vital cargo capacity for the global logistics market. Aviation stakeholders and cargo operators are encouraged to monitor upcoming induction milestones as Singapore facilities prepare for the 2027 conversion schedule.
