Aviation News, 17 July 2025 – The Nagoya City Fire Bureau has ordered an Airbus H160 helicopter to enhance its emergency response capabilities. The aircraft will be deployed for firefighting, search and rescue, and disaster relief missions, including aerial assessments of disaster zones.
The H160 will be specially outfitted for search and rescue operations and wildfire suppression, capable of carrying a belly-mounted water tank or external firefighting bucket to support ground efforts.
“We are proud that Nagoya City Fire Bureau, a valued long-term partner, has chosen the H160 for its critical missions,” said Jean-Luc Alfonsi, Managing Director of Airbus Helicopters in Japan. “The H160 brings advanced safety, performance, and design to the forefront — ideal for their demanding operations.”
Having operated helicopters since 1973, the Bureau will retire one of its two AS365N3 helicopters as it transitions to the new H160, marking a new chapter in its aerial emergency response.
