Aviation News – Samson Sky has secured a landmark $80 million investment from Dubai-based Matin Group to accelerate the commercial production of its Switchblade flying car. This major financial backing marks a pivotal step forward in bringing street-legal personal aircraft into high-volume manufacturing.
The US-based aerospace developer announced on September 15, 2026, that the capital injection will fund the construction of its first 180,000 square foot production facility. The transaction was finalized through a Joint Investment Agreement between Samson Sky and Matin Group, establishing a joint effort structured to scale operations and prepare the dual-purpose vehicle for global market entry.
The deal highlights growing international interest from Middle Eastern investment hubs in advanced urban air mobility solutions. By securing the necessary real estate and manufacturing capacity, Samson Sky addresses one of the most critical hurdles facing next-generation transportation startups: transitioning from functional prototypes to high-rate assembly line production.
Designed as a high-performance, street-legal vehicle capable of transforming into an airplane at the push of a button, the Switchblade features retractable wings that fold safely inside the vehicle body while driving. This hybrid design allows owners to drive directly to a regional airport, deploy the wings, and fly to their destination, significantly expanding point-to-point regional travel possibilities and reducing reliance on traditional airport infrastructure.
“This strategic backing enables us to accelerate directly into commercial production and meet our growing demand,” noted Sam Bousfield, CEO and Founder of Samson Sky and designer of the Switchblade. Bousfield added that while the new agreement secures the vast majority of capital required, an additional $20 million still needs to be raised to achieve full production funding.
This substantial cash infusion places Samson Sky among the leading contenders in the emerging personal air mobility sector. As factory construction gets underway, the company moves closer to delivering certified dual-use vehicles to customers worldwide, signaling a shift from experimental aviation to mainstream transportation.
The $80 million agreement with Matin Group provides Samson Sky with the vital infrastructure needed to build its flagship manufacturing facility. With only $20 million remaining to reach complete production funding, the Switchblade is poised to become a commercial reality in personal transportation. As construction begins, the company is set to redefine short-haul travel and lead the transition into the modern flying car era.
