Aviation News – Norse Atlantic Airways has finalized a landmark aircraft lease agreement with Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to deploy two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner jets on routes connecting the UK and Pakistan. Scheduled to take flight at the start of November 2026, this strategic partnership significantly expands PIA’s passenger capacity on vital international corridors.
The long-term ACMI agreement—covering aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance—establishes a crucial operational bridge between major cities across the United Kingdom and Pakistan. Negotiations culminated in the lease selection as PIA sought reliable long-haul widebody aircraft to satisfy soaring travel demand among diaspora communities and commercial passengers.
This major deal materializes shortly after IndiGo decided to conclude its operational leasing of Norse Atlantic Dreamliners. By redeploying these modern widebody aircraft to PIA, Norse Atlantic optimizes its fleet utilization strategy while offering Pakistan’s flag carrier immediate operational scale.
Under the terms of the wet-lease contract, Norse Atlantic provides the long-haul Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners along with flight crews and technical maintenance, while PIA manages route commercialization and passenger ticketing. The fuel-efficient Dreamliners offer advanced cabin pressurization, lower carbon emissions, and expanded cargo hold space, providing a modern flight experience for passengers travelling on intercontinental routes.
“Partnering with Norse Atlantic allows us to rapidly expand our international network footprint and meet heavy passenger demand across core UK-Pakistan routes with modern, efficient aircraft,” noted a executive representative involved in the lease framework.
This collaboration marks a key operational turn for both carriers heading into winter schedule planning. For Norse Atlantic, securing long-term ACMI revenue hedges against seasonal passenger fluctuations, while PIA secures premium widebody capacity to solidify its market share on high-density long-haul international corridors.
