Aviation News – A French Air and Space Force Dassault Mirage 2000D fighter jet crashed during a nighttime training flight near Rogéville, Meurthe-et-Moselle, resulting in the confirmation of one fatality and leaving one crew member missing.

The two-seat attack aircraft, operated by the EC 2/3 “Champagne” squadron, went down under unknown circumstances approximately 15 kilometers from Pont-à-Mousson, north of Nancy. Witnesses reported hearing a loud explosion and spotting a fireball in the sky around 11 p.m. Emergency services immediately initiated an extensive overnight search operation across the rural triangle formed by the municipalities of Rogéville, Tremblecourt, and Domèvre-en-Haye.

Search teams subsequently spotted the scattered wreckage of the destroyed jet using an unmanned aerial drone. Personnel from Air Base 133 in Nancy Ochey, alongside local firefighters, gendarmerie officers, and air support helicopters, quickly mobilized to comb through the vast terrain of dense forests and open fields to secure the site and locate the missing crew member.
