The company is conducting real-world electric air taxi flight demonstrations on routes across North Texas, including direct operations into Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and key urban hubs.
The initiative marks a major milestone in bringing commercial electric vertical takeoff and landing operations to American cities. Organized under the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) winning Project Nexus proposal, the campaign forms part of the broader U.S. Department of Transportation eIPP initiative established in March 2026. By gathering federal, state, and local governments alongside private industry, the collaborative effort aims to accelerate the safe integration of commercial electric air taxis into complex U.S. airspace.
Set against the North Texas skyline, the flight campaign builds upon earlier demonstration flights conducted in high-density areas such as the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City. These initial tests laid the groundwork by showcasing the aircraft’s maneuverability and low noise footprint in diverse operational environments.
During the Dallas-Fort Worth campaign, Joby is validating how its all-electric aircraft operates alongside traditional commercial air traffic in high-density airspace.
