AviationNews – Vietjet has announced a significant capacity expansion by launching five new direct international routes across Asia this winter. The Vietnamese low-cost carrier will dramatically increase its footprint by connecting key domestic hubs to the Philippines, Japan, and Thailand in the coming months.
Starting November 10, 2026, the airline will introduce three new routes to the Philippines, linking Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi with Cebu, as well as Ho Chi Minh City with Clark. Each of these Philippine services will operate three round-trip flights per week. Further expanding its regional presence, Vietjet will introduce a Ho Chi Minh City to Chiang Mai, Thailand, route on October 25, and launch a Da Nang to Osaka, Japan, service commencing December 20, which will operate four times weekly.
By integrating these specific destinations, the airline strategically optimizes its fleet utilization across high-demand regional sectors. The new Da Nang–Osaka route directly bridges central Vietnam’s UNESCO heritage sites with a major Japanese economic hub, fostering bilateral tourism. Meanwhile, the new connections to Clark and Cebu open up vital secondary airports in the Philippines, giving travelers more efficient point-to-point transit options outside of the highly congested Manila airspace.
According to the airline’s official announcement regarding the expansion, “The new services will provide passengers with greater travel flexibility while making tourism, trade and connectivity between Vietnam and the Philippines more convenient than ever.”
This strategic route development positions Vietjet to capture a larger share of the growing Asian travel market ahead of the busy year-end holiday season. Budget-conscious travelers and business commuters alike will benefit from increased frequencies, driving cross-border economic activity throughout the region. Passengers looking to explore these vibrant destinations can now leverage these direct links to plan more seamless travel itineraries across Southeast and East Asia.
Vietjet’s latest network expansion reinforces its ambition to become a leading aviation player connecting diverse Asian markets. By linking vital secondary cities in the Philippines and Japan directly to Vietnam, the airline not only enhances regional mobility but also stimulates broader economic and cultural exchanges.
