AviationNews – Global aircraft lessor ORIX Aviation has reached an agreement to acquire UK-based aftermarket specialist AerFin Limited in a transaction valued at approximately $640 million. The strategic buyout marks ORIX Aviation‘s entry into the rapidly growing market for aircraft maintenance, component repair, and end-of-life fleet management.
Under the agreement reached on August 3, 2026, ORIX Aviation will acquire 100 percent of AerFin from private equity firm CataCap and other shareholders, with completion expected by the end of 2026 subject to regulatory approval. Headquartered in Newport, Wales, AerFin operates facilities across Miami, Singapore, and Dublin, employing more than 230 specialists. The deal brings together ORIX Aviation‘s managed portfolio of roughly 230 aircraft with AerFin‘s extensive inventory, disassembly services, and used serviceable material (USM) distribution network serving over 600 global customers.
Integrating AerFin allows ORIX Aviation to manage assets through their entire lifecycle, transitioning leased aircraft straight into teardown, parts recovery, and component re-leasing at end of service. This circular approach helps airlines lower maintenance costs while mitigating global aerospace supply chain bottlenecks through reliable access to recycled engine and airframe components. Operational synergies between aircraft leasing and parts supply maximize residual asset value for institutional investors and commercial air carriers alike.
“The acquisition of AerFin is a significant milestone for ORIX Aviation as we expand our capabilities across the full aircraft lifecycle,” stated James Meyler, Chief Executive Officer of ORIX Aviation. “Together, we will be well positioned to deliver additional value for customers and investors, while supporting a more sustainable aviation industry through the reuse and optimization of aircraft assets.”
As global demand for used serviceable material continues to rise alongside commercial fleet growth, the acquisition positions ORIX Aviation to capitalize on expanding aftermarket opportunities. Airline operators and leasing clients can expect integrated, end-to-end asset solutions as both companies align their commercial platforms heading into 2027.
The transaction strengthens ORIX Aviation‘s position in global aircraft asset management by pairing its core leasing business with specialized disassembly and component supply capabilities. By building a comprehensive lifecycle platform, the combined group is set to drive efficiency and sustainability across the commercial aviation sector.
