Aviation News – The final two Swedish-built Gripen C fighter jets touched down at Kecskemét Air Base yesterday, marking the successful completion of a recent bilateral defense agreement to expand Hungary’s military aviation capabilities. This delivery fulfills the contract amendment finalized between the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) and the Hungarian Ministry of Defence in January 2024.
The arrival of these two aircraft increases Hungary’s total active fighter fleet to 18 Gripen C/D jets, which includes 16 single-seat C-models and two twin-seat D-models. European defense analysts note that this procurement reflects a broader trend among NATO allies to modernize and reinforce eastern European air defense infrastructure amid evolving regional security dynamics.
