Russia Conducts First Test Launch of New-Generation Soyuz-5 Rocket

Russia has successfully carried out the maiden test launch of its Soyuz-5 rocket, marking a significant step in the country’s next-generation space launch capabilities and long-term modernization efforts.

The launch, conducted by state space corporation Roscosmos, took place on Thursday from Launch Pad 45 at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. The rocket lifted off at 9 p.m. Moscow time as part of its initial flight development test program, carrying a mock payload on a suborbital trajectory. The Soyuz-5 program is intended to replace aging launch systems and strengthen Russia’s position in the global space sector.

During the test, both the first and second stages of the Soyuz-5 rocket performed as expected, demonstrating stable flight and system reliability. The mock payload successfully completed its trajectory before splashing down in a designated recovery zone in the Pacific Ocean. The rocket is designed to deliver heavier payloads with improved efficiency, offering enhanced capabilities for commercial and governmental space missions.
