Aviation News – Eve Air Mobility has entered into a strategic collaboration with Sydney-based Alt Air and Skyports Infrastructure to develop a comprehensive Urban Air Mobility (UAM) network across New South Wales and Queensland. This partnership aims to establish the essential infrastructure and operational framework for electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) services, targeting high-visibility operations ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Summer Games.
The collaboration brings together specialized expertise to tackle the logistical challenges of introducing sustainable aerial transport. Alt Air, an Advanced Air Mobility company, will utilize its existing aviation assets—including bases at Sydney Harbour and Palm Beach—as foundational elements for the network. Meanwhile, Skyports Infrastructure will spearhead the evaluation and development of new vertiport locations, ensuring these hubs are strategically placed to connect major population centers, commercial districts, and key tourism corridors.
This integrated approach addresses critical components of the emerging market, including route planning, airspace integration, and ground operations. By assessing high-demand corridors, such as the route between Western Sydney International Airport and downtown Sydney, the partners are creating a roadmap that prioritizes safety, passenger experience, and scalability, aiming to position Australia as a global leader in next-generation transportation.
Operationally, the initiative focuses on building a seamless, multimodal ecosystem where eVTOL aircraft operate as a quiet and efficient alternative to ground transport. These systems rely on distributed electric propulsion and advanced automated flight controls to minimize noise and carbon emissions, making them ideal for dense urban environments. By connecting existing airports with purpose-built vertiports, the consortium intends to provide a reliable, high-tempo transit solution that complements traditional infrastructure.
