Aviation News – Transport Canada has officially certified Gulfstream G500 and Gulfstream G600 business jets built by General Dynamics’ Gulfstream Aerospace, clearing the aircraft for operation in Canada after years of regulatory delay and political scrutiny.
The approval, confirmed through a February 15 type certificate data sheet issued by Transport Canada, follows mounting pressure from U.S. officials. Earlier this month, Donald Trump criticized the Canadian regulator for what he described as slow processing times. The head of the Federal Aviation Administration had indicated that Canada was close to recognizing the aircraft, which had faced certification delays stretching back several years.
Both jets are designed for long-range corporate and private travel, combining advanced flight decks with fuel-efficient engines and extended range capabilities. Certification allows operators to register, base, and fly the aircraft commercially or privately within Canadian airspace, broadening market access for Gulfstream and simplifying cross-border operations for business aviation customers.
