Aviation News – Boeing and Delta Air Lines announced a landmark widebody order as the U.S. carrier placed its first direct purchase for up to 60 787 Dreamliner aircraft to support long-haul growth and fleet renewal. The deal strengthens Delta’s international capacity on high-demand routes while reinforcing Boeing’s widebody backlog.
Delta’s commitment covers 30 787-10 jets, with options for up to 30 additional aircraft, marking the airline’s first direct 787 order from Boeing. The selection supports Delta’s strategy to modernize its widebody fleet and expand services across transatlantic and South American markets, with deliveries aligned to the carrier’s long-term network plans.
The 787-10, the largest Dreamliner variant, combines advanced aerodynamics, lightweight composite materials, and next-generation engines to deliver improved fuel efficiency and range. For operators, this translates into lower operating costs, reduced emissions, and enhanced passenger comfort on long-haul missions, making it well suited for dense international routes.
