Aviation News – Chinese fighter jets locked their radar onto Japanese military aircraft near the Okinawa Islands on Saturday, prompting Tokyo to warn of “dangerous incidents” as diplomatic friction intensifies.
Japan reported that multiple Chinese jets illuminated Japanese planes with fire-control radar, a move considered highly provocative because it can precede missile targeting. The incident comes shortly after Japan cautioned Beijing about potential military actions toward Taiwan, further straining already fragile relations.
According to Japan’s defense authorities, the encounter occurred within the country’s Air Self-Defense Force patrol area. China denied the accusations, calling Tokyo’s statements inaccurate, but offered no additional details. The radar-lock incident marks one of the most serious confrontations in recent months between the two Asian powers.
