Aviation News – Swedish Armed Forces to Take Delivery of Gripen E on October 20
The Swedish Armed Forces will take delivery of their first Saab JAS 39 Gripen E fighter jets on October 20, 2025, during a formal handover ceremony at Skaraborg Air Wing (F 7) in Såtenäs. The event marks a significant step in Sweden’s long-term defense modernization and its efforts to strengthen national and regional air defense capabilities.
The Gripen E is the latest and most advanced version of Sweden’s multirole combat aircraft, developed by Saab to meet modern operational demands. It introduces substantial upgrades including a GE F414G engine, increased fuel capacity, and ten external hardpoints that allow for more weapons and sensors.
