Aviation News – JetBlue Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Tampa After Mechanical Malfunction
A JetBlue Airways flight from Cancun to Newark made an emergency landing in Tampa on Thursday following a flight control issue that caused minor injuries among passengers, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
JetBlue Flight 1230, an Airbus A320, was en route from Cancun International Airport in Mexico to Newark Liberty International Airport when the incident occurred. The aircraft landed safely at Tampa International Airport at approximately 2:19 p.m. ET. The FAA has confirmed it has opened an investigation into the cause of the malfunction, as safety officials work to determine what went wrong mid-flight.
Preliminary reports suggest the issue involved one of the aircraft’s flight control systems — components essential for managing the plane’s stability and direction. The diversion to Tampa was carried out as a precautionary measure to ensure passenger safety, and emergency services were on standby upon landing.
