In addition, Turkish Airlines has agreed with Boeing to buy 100 737 MAX jets, comprised of 737-8s and 737-10s, with an option for 50 further planes in the future.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is a long-haul aircraft known for fuel efficiency, lower emissions, and improved passenger comfort. By introducing both the 787-8 and 787-9 models, the airline will enhance its flexibility across international routes, supporting Istanbul’s position as a major global hub.
“Turkish Airlines’ commitment to the Dreamliner family reflects our confidence in the future of air travel and our determination to deliver world-class service to passengers worldwide,” the airline said in its investor announcement.
The carrier is currently in discussions with Rolls-Royce and GE Aerospace regarding engines, spare parts, and long-term maintenance agreements, signaling further industrial cooperation. Once finalized, the order is expected to boost Turkey’s aviation sector and strengthen ties with U.S. aerospace manufacturing.
Turkish Airlines’ decision represents one of the most significant aircraft investments in its history, with potential to reshape its long-haul fleet. As deliveries progress, the airline is poised to expand its network, improve efficiency, and meet rising global passenger demand.
