Aviation News – The Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) has selected the Airbus A330 Multi Role Tanker Transport Plus (MRTT+), strengthening its aerial refueling, medical evacuation, and transport capabilities.

The A330 MRTT+, based on the Airbus A330neo, was chosen in 2026 and will undergo military conversion at Airbus’ Getafe facility in Spain before delivery in 2029. The aircraft will feature dual refueling systems, a medical evacuation kit, and a VVIP cabin, marking a significant upgrade for Thailand’s defense and humanitarian response operations.

Equipped with both hose-and-drogue and boom refueling systems, the A330 MRTT+ allows greater flexibility in supporting a wide range of allied aircraft. Its advanced configuration ensures extended operational reach, enhanced medical evacuation capabilities, and readiness for disaster relief missions.

“Thailand’s selection of the A330 MRTT+ underlines the trust placed in this platform, while embracing the next evolution in efficiency, capability and sustainability,” said Jean-Brice Dumont, Head of Air Power at Airbus Defence and Space.

The addition of the MRTT+ is expected to bolster Thailand’s national defense posture, improve crisis response, and provide broader regional support through humanitarian and disaster relief operations.

By integrating the A330 MRTT+, the RTAF secures a modern and versatile platform designed for long-term service. The aircraft strengthens both Thailand’s sovereignty and its ability to operate alongside international partners, underlining the growing importance of multi-role, sustainable air assets.
