Raytheon UK Completes Paveway IV Trials on Eurofighter Typhoon

Aviation News – Raytheon UK has successfully completed integration trials of the Paveway IV precision-guided bomb on the Eurofighter Typhoon, strengthening NATO’s collaborative combat capabilities.

The trials, held in July at Royal Air Force Marham and MOD Aberporth, were conducted with support from RWM Italia S.p.A., part of the Rheinmetall group. The program included live-fire exercises, mission planning simulations, weapon and platform training, and cross-force tactical integration—demonstrating a high level of interoperability between NATO partners.

Paveway IV, developed and manufactured by Raytheon with a warhead from Rheinmetall Italia, is a dual-mode guided bomb that has been a cornerstone of the Royal Air Force’s strike capability since 2008. The weapon offers enhanced precision and flexibility for air-to-ground missions.

“This collaboration underscores the strength of NATO partnerships and our shared commitment to maintaining a technological edge on the battlefield,” said Capt RN Deavin, Combat Air Deputy Force Commander.

The successful trials not only reaffirm the reliability of Paveway IV but also pave the way for greater allied integration in future air operations. Analysts suggest this development will help NATO forces maintain both air superiority and deterrence in increasingly contested environments.

Raytheon UK’s work with Rheinmetall and the Royal Air Force highlights the growing importance of multinational defense cooperation. By combining proven weapons systems with advanced platforms like the Typhoon, NATO partners are positioning themselves to meet evolving security challenges with greater precision and interoperability.
