Aviation News – Delta Air Lines has announced a partnership with Netherlands-based Maeve Aerospace to advance a hybrid electric jet for regional flights, a move aimed at cutting emissions and fuel use.
The collaboration, confirmed this week, focuses on Maeve’s hybrid electric MAEVE Jet, which is designed to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions by up to 40 percent on conventional jet fuel. Further reductions could be achieved with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The project is part of Delta’s Sustainable Skies Lab, launched to support innovations that help the airline reach its goal of net-zero emissions by 2050.
The MAEVE Jet will combine electric propulsion with traditional jet engines, allowing operators to significantly reduce reliance on fossil fuels. For regional routes, the aircraft is expected to deliver efficiency gains while maintaining the reliability of conventional aircraft systems.
“This partnership demonstrates Delta’s commitment to shaping the future of sustainable flight,” a Delta spokesperson said. “By working with innovators like Maeve Aerospace, we are taking meaningful steps toward reducing our carbon footprint while continuing to serve our customers.”
