Aviation News 5 July 2025 – Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), the parent company of Malaysia Airlines, has finalized a purchase agreement with Airbus for an additional 20 A330-900 aircraft, bringing its total A330neo order to 40.
The announcement coincided with the official visit of Malaysia’s Prime Minister, H.E. Anwar Ibrahim, to France, highlighting the growing ties between the two nations in the aerospace sector.MAG initially committed to 20 A330neo aircraft in 2022 as part of its widebody fleet modernization initiative. Since then, four of these jets have entered service, operating routes from Kuala Lumpur to destinations such as Melbourne, Auckland, and Bali. These aircraft feature a newly designed premium cabin experience focused on passenger comfort and efficiency.
Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, Group Managing Director of MAG, emphasized the strategic importance of the expanded order:
