Aviation News – A training aircraft crash involving an Airbus Flight Academy Europe plane operating for the French Air Force left two occupants injured in southern France, raising fresh concerns about low-level training risks.

The incident occurred near Saint-Étienne-les-Orgues, in the vicinity of Montagne de Lure, when a Cirrus SR20 G3 operated by Airbus Flight Academy Europe went down during a low-level training mission conducted on behalf of the French Air and Space Force. Both occupants sustained injuries and were transported to hospital. The aircraft is commonly used in early-stage pilot training, and such missions typically involve terrain-following exercises designed to build situational awareness.

The Cirrus SR20 G3 is a single-engine piston aircraft widely used for pilot training due to its modern avionics and safety systems, including a whole-aircraft parachute. Low-level training flights, while essential for military readiness, increase exposure to terrain and environmental hazards, making them inherently higher risk compared to standard flight operations.
