Aviation News – Adani Defence & Aerospace and Brazilian planemaker Embraer have exchanged an enhanced Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a comprehensive manufacturing ecosystem for E175 regional jets in India. This strategic alliance, formalized in the presence of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Indian Minister of Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal, aims to transform India into a global hub for regional aircraft production.
The agreement marks a significant progression in the partnership between the Adani Group and Embraer, following their initial pact in January 2026. The selection of the E175 jet, an 88-seater aircraft widely regarded for its efficiency, is designed to support the Indian government’s Regional Transport Aircraft (RTA) vision and the UDAN scheme. Development plans include the potential establishment of a Final Assembly Line (FAL), with Dholera in Gujarat emerging as a frontrunner for the facility’s location.
The project focuses on creating an end-to-end aviation value chain, including aircraft manufacturing, local supply chain development, and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services. By producing the E175 locally, the partners intend to reduce reliance on imports and lower operational costs for domestic carriers. The technical impact is significant, as the E175 is optimized for short to medium-haul flights, providing the necessary performance to connect Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities with high-frequency service.
