Aviation News – Eastern Airways Ceases Operations Following Financial Collapse
UK regional carrier Eastern Airways has announced the immediate suspension of all flights as of 27 October 2025, after filing for bankruptcy protection. The abrupt move has left passengers and staff across the country stranded, marking a significant loss for the UK’s regional aviation network.
Founded in 1997, Eastern Airways operated domestic and short-haul European routes from key UK airports including Humberside, Aberdeen, and Southampton. The airline cited mounting financial difficulties as the reason behind its collapse, with rising fuel costs and post-pandemic operational challenges contributing to its downfall. The decision follows months of uncertainty over the airline’s financial stability.
Operationally, the grounding means that all scheduled services have been cancelled and aircraft have been recalled to their respective bases. The airline’s website and booking system have been taken offline while administrators assess the company’s assets and liabilities.
